Duo Altiler

Duo Altiler is a Belgian violin-piano duo formed by Veronique De Raedemaeker and Alexander Declercq.

‘Altiler’ alludes to the tradition of gathering at the linden tree. It also refers to the place where Alexander and Veronique first met, at the Hochschüle für Musik und Tanz in Cologne where they started playing music together.

In 2023, they performed L. van Beethoven's Triple Concerto in a full Antwerp Elisabeth Hall as a benefit for Mercy Ships. Featured as ‘Twintiger” on Radio Klara, they were praised in 2024 for their contribution to ‘Iedereen Klassiek’ in Concertgebouw Brugge with ‘Tango and a Madhouse’ where they played music by Piazzolla, Lutoslawski, Liszt and Schnittke, among others.

They have a reputation for unlocking the depths of compositions with virtuosity and poetry, as in Béla Bartók's 1st violin sonata. Concertgebouw Brugge on Klara Toots' concert broadcast on 1 March 2024: "An electrifying intensity! This is how we remember the concert in Klara's studio Toots by Alexander Declercq and Veronique De Raedemaeker."

Cultuurpakt on 18th October 2023 about their performance in Klankdomein, a festival presenting works by Belgian composers: "The 1926 Sonatine by Marcel Poot (1901-1988) was also a nice surprise. Performed by violinist Veronique de Raedemaeker and pianist Alexander Declerq. ... this Sonatine has everything a good piece of music should contain. Despite being a short piece, it contains everything. It fits and was beautifully performed."

With great acclaim from the audience, Duo Altiler interprets a mix of classical and intense, more daringly chosen masterpieces at their concerts.
